Typing Instructor for Kids 4 1722 error
I have just purchased the above software from Greenstreet. When I try to install on Vista I get an 1722 error when the machine tries to reboot following install. I have tried all the usual including virus scans, registry repair etc. Please help as my kids want to play. Thanks Jason

Re: Typing Instructor for Kids 4 1722 error
Error 1722 is one of those rather undefined error messages that Windows Installer gives when it has problems with part of the install.
It is usually down to a problem with a temporary file which the Windows Installer program creates.
The problem is that once it occurs Windows will often just keep using the temporary file with the problem

Open Windows Explorer (Windows Key + E)

Browse to your "Windows" folder (this is usually located at C:\Windows).

Browse to the "Installer" folder (C:\Windows\Installer)

Right click on the "{C1BC299D-CEE0-4D84-8C14-DDFC2B152F06}" folder and click "Rename" from the menu.

Rename the folder to something else (eg: "{C1BC299D-CEE0-4D84-8C14-DDFC2B152F06}_OLD")

Close Windows Explorer and re-run the installation.
Hopefully this will solve the problem. If not then reply back and we can try something else.

Re: Typing Instructor for Kids 4 1722 error
If there is no installer folders there, have you tried running the install again?
One of the things I'm having trouble working out is what actually needs a reboot as I can't work out what would be locked and require it reboot. The only thing I can think is if you were using another text to speech program or if you have got a very aggressive anti-virus program. So you might want to disable the resident scan part of your anti-virus program while installing.
I'll have another look at when I'm back in the office tomorrow.

I have tried installing with the anti-virus disabled and install still wants to reboot at end and still get 1722 error. I have also used the Microsoft installer cleanup utility to no avail. Any other thoughts?

Re: Typing Instructor for Kids 4 1722 error
I have spoken with the third party who develops the Professor Teaches range and they think they know what the problem is, as they have fixed the problem in the soon to be released Typing for Kids 5.
So if it would be acceptable to you we will give you a replacement version 5 as soon as it is released.

I believe we will be receiving our copy from the developers some time next week.
