Program will not install Empty Program will not install

I have just purchased Desk Calendars but it fails to load directly from your CD.

The error message "Update Manager has failed to start" pops up.
I cannot run any other associated installed program.
I have tried to run the Update program manager seperately as per the web instructions but it still fails to run.

I am running Vista 64 bit. Is this the problem?

If not, what is the problem?

Graham.

Could you tell us a bit more about the problem.

When does the error message appear? I presume as you say that you've followed the web support instructions that Desk Calendars has fully installed and runs itself, but update manager doesn't run.

Could you also tell us the serial number of the CD. You will find this in the text file "X:\serialno.txt" (where X is the drive letter of your CD drive).

Re: Program will not install

Hello Bart,
Sorry for the delay in responding but I've been away for a few days.

The error message pops up during the installation process.
Consequently the program does not install itself. This is manifested by an absence of the program appearing in the Vista's list of programs.
A look at the Greenstreet directory (within the Vista "Program" directory) reveals only two "applications" are present. One is entitled Black Box (1,353kb), the other is entitled ArtAndCraft (89kb). Some of the sub-directories are empty.

The serial number is 10018 and was created on 29th September 2007.

There is another file on the disk called Update Manifest. Perhaps this the "Update" that causes the problem?

Many thanks,

Graham

That CD was from the very first batch that was made, and which did have some issues on 64-bit Windows Vista (although the symptoms you describe are slightly different).
The method we usually recommend is to downloads and install the trial version from our website http://greenstreet-online.com/downloads/art-and-craft/index.html. Then once it has installed, insert your CD and install Desk Calendars. Hopefully this should work.

Sorry for all the hassle.

Thank you Bart,

The program now functions, and all is well.

Can you tell me how to remove the free trial programs?
They take up quite a lot of space on my small HDD.

The individual modules should be able to be removed by starting the program.
Then from the "Help" menu select "About". This will list all the modules which you have got installed, and will let you "Remove" (uninstall) most of them (apart from the ones which are required for the program to work).

However because the trials all use download on demand they only take up about 2 MBs of installed space.
