That is most bizarre. Do any other program cause the same problem or is it just Professor Teaches Powerpoint?

Could you give a some information about the specification of your computer -
Operating System
Processor,
Graphics Card and
Graphics Card Driver version

(you can find help on how to get this information at
http://greenstreet-online.com/support/form-help.html)

It's not a problem I come across before, but we'll try our best to help you.

OK, well that rules out a few things.

First thing I would recommend if you haven't already tried it, is to un-install the program completely, restart your computer and then install the program again.
Hopefully this should fix the problem (It is surprising just how many problems it can solve).

If it doesn't solve it, you should check to see that no errors are logged:

  • Make a note of the time on your computer. Then try to run Professor Teaches Powerpoint 2007, which will cause the computer to restart
  • Once the computer has restarted:
  • From Windows click "Start" -> "Control Panel"
  • This will bring up the control panel.
  • Select "Administrative Tools" and then "Event Viewer"
  • The Event Viewer will now be shown
  • From the left hand pane click on "Application". In the right hand pane all the application events will be shown. Look and see if there are any events which happened at the time (to the nearest minute) you tried to run Professor Teaches Powerpoint 2007
  • If there are any such events, double click on the event which will bring up some more information, copy and paste the text in the "Description" box (in the middle) and post it here.
  • From the left hand pane click on "System" and do the same with the system events shown in the right hand pane.

If there is nothing post back and we can try something else.

dear sir/madam/

only now i have tried what you suggested.
although i don't seem to fing anything relevant to the topic, the following two errors from the system task pane have occourred.
please find them as follow:
01:07:11 Error:The Update Shell service terminated with the following error:
The specified module could not be found.
01:07:11 Error:Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the Roxio Hard Drive Watcher 9 service to connect.
these have happened after i tried to run prof teaches at 01:04

a number of other actions have talen place as per the restart of the system

maybe it wil help, maybe not.

best

mariano

Thanks for the logs, as you say there doesn't seem to be anything particularly relevant.

I have to say I'm at a bit of a loss. There should not be anything which will make a normal program restart a computer. The only thing that I can think would cause it is a low level issue - either a problem with the hard drive or something in the graphics system (either the graphics card or the driver).

The only other obvious thing I can think of is make sure that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

Did un-installing and re-installing the program do anything at all?

If neither of those solve the problem the best I can suggest is to contact the developers of the Professor Teaches range directly, their support website is http://www.individualsoftware.com/support/
