Publisher 5 - Find & Replace doesn't work Empty Publisher 5 - Find & Replace doesn't work

Publisher 5 (the quasi upgrade to Publisher 4.2):
When I tick on Find and Replace, I get a message: Encountered an improper argument.

What the heck is that supposed to mean?
More importantly, how can it be corrected?

Sorry it has taken a long while to reply.

Hopefully it should be fixed in an automatic update which will be released as soon as I can get into the office.

The automatic update has been released.

If you go under the Help menu select "Check for Updates..."

Hopefully this should fix the problem.

I followed you advice: Went to Help, ticked Check for Upgrades and got a + sign but nothing else.

BTW: this is driving me crazy. I'm trying to do an Audubon newsletter and have spent most of the day fooling with this damn "new" Publisher Ultimate.
My newsletter isn't getting done.

It should come up with a dialog box when you click on "Check for updates".

If you want to try to install the update manually download http://greenstreet-online.com/update/pwk2010020401.exe and run this.

Well Bart,
I'm now officially crazy. It's pretty hard to type with both arms in a straight jacket but I'm punching this out with my nose.
The Help menu still only yields a + sign when I tick Check for Updates...so...
I followed your link in the reply, got a download and didn't know what in hell to do with it. It looks nice sitting there in its little black box in the Publisher folder.
Now, that I've missed my deadline and left thousands of Audubon readers wanting, I've had some time to find even more flaws:
I get the same" Encountered an improper Argument" (veddy British) message when I try to create a web link, of which there are many in our publications.
Now here's a big decision for me: Since all of this stuff worked fine in Publisher 4.2, why can't I just uninstall Publisher Ultimate Failure and go back to publisher 4?
Why?

I tried. . . and Publisher 4 CAN"T OPEN the .dtp file created by Publisher Ultimate Failure.
So...if I have to do that (work in Publisher 4), I'll have to redo 14 hours of work!!!

How about this: FIX Publisher Ultimate 5 and
1) send me a new disk (I paid $7.99 + for the Ultimate Failure disk) and
2) link me up to a full download of the finally repaired version.
How about it?

Double click on the file you have just downloaded to run it, this will perform the update.

I'm very sorry for the problems you are having, unfortunately I can't do any more as I am no longer employed by Greenstreet Online (see http://support.greenstreet-online.com/miscellaneous-f3/changes-in-personnel-t84.htm). I am still trying to support the users out of goodwill ... although why I am doing it at 11:15pm on Saturday night I don't know.

I appreciate your help but no dice.
I've run a System Restore and have eliminated all traces of Publisher Ultimate Failure.
I'm back to Publisher 4.2 which can Find & Replace and which can create web links.
So. . . until Greenstreet finally fixes Publisher Ultimate Failure and sends me permissinon (product Key) to download the fixed version and also sends me a new backup disk to replace the worthless one I bought for $7.99 (plus, my card company charged me $1.20 "International Fee), I'll figure I wasted $60 + and move on.

I think Greenstreet made a bigger mistake (than releasing Publisher Ultimate Failure) by letting you go.
Employees like you are tough to find.

Did the update you downloaded do anything at all (did it run and say it succeeded when you double clicked on it)?
If not then I should be able to do something about that.

Bart,
In order to get my Audubon Newsletter out, I had to dump Publisher 5 and reinstall the trustworthy Publisher 4.2.
I've just now completed the Feb issue without a hitch (using Publisher 4.2).
I'm very reluctant to reload Publisher 5 on this computer.
I'll reload it to another computer this week and try the upgrade download you sent.
I'll let you know what happened.
But, that said, I think Greenstreet should fix everything and send me a new CD ( I paid $799 for the backup CD).
It certainly would make things easier to simply download the final, everything fixed version.
